I was inspired to help others and now teach fitness all over the community and my biggest accomplishment was going to college through ISSA.
My story begins back 10 years ago. Our two year old daughter passed away in a tragic accident. This left me depressed and over the years was prescribed several antidepressants. I sank deeper and deeper into depression until finally hitting rock bottom three years ago. I was on two antidepressants and a sleeping pill. I begged my Dr to take me off all medication because all I did was cry all the time. He said I had to exercise and change my diet and he would try to slowly taper me off my medications.
I joined the gym and met my boss who is an ISSA trainer and specialist in Fitness Nutrition. She gave me an exercise and nutrition plan to follow and within a month, my Dr had me off all meds. That was three years ago and I havent been on any since. When I started my journey, I was 152 lbs and 42 percent body fat. Within a year and a half later I was 110 lbs and 16 percent body fat.
I was inspired to help others and now teach fitness all over the community and my biggest accomplishment was going to college through ISSA. I am Dyslexic and growing up in school was challenging. I could not read until I was almost 10 and thought I was not smart enough for college. I am 36 years old and felt like it was too late to start school. But now I have a desire to learn more and help others. ISSA has helped me along the way. My instructors have been very understanding and patient. Anytime I email them, they respond back promptly to help me better understand thematerial.
School has been the best thing for me. Im not saying it is easy because it is not but I have learned so much and that knowledge will enable me to help others. I really liked that after each week, my instructors gave feedback of the previous weeks assignments. It was not negative but basically gave the positive aspects and then what I needed to improve. I took these notes and applied them to the next weeks assignments. Each week, I saw improvements and this gave me confidence that I never knew I had. Honestly, words cannot describe how much ISSA has changed my life. I am truly grateful and look forward to my classes starting again next week!
