The course is very comprehensive, the six learning experiences on the final were fun to do and the support was great.
I was originally certified by ISSA as a fitness trainer back in 2002. I never used the certification. But I did use what I learned on myself. Then I injured my shoulder in 2004 and ended up out of commission for a while. I fell out of the fitness lifestyle and got myself up to 285 pounds. I started my weight loss journey in April of 2013. I started out with just walking and after getting down to about 240 I joined a gym to add weights to my routine. I really did forget about eating the way I should have and it took forever to get down to 206.
By that time I was riding my bike 100 miles per week and working out in the gym four days per week. Then I remembered my training from the ISSA. I started to count calories and man was I surprised how I was over eating. I figured out my BMR and started eating correctly. I was able to drop from 206 in July of 2015 to 173 by January of 2016!!!! I have since packed on seven pounds of muscle and greatly increased my strength through healthy eating, working out and supplementation. The results are that I am not on any medication for cholesterol or blood pressure. I went from a 50" waist to a 32" waist. I dropped a total of 105 pounds. My body fat percentage is 16.1.
I have decided that I want to share what I have accomplished with others. I signed up with the ISSA to get certified again in October 2015 and just finished up my certification. The course is very comprehensive, the six learning experiences on the final were fun to do and the support was great. Anytime I had a question it was answered in 24 hours. I have not decided exactly how I am going to train others. My gym is always looking for trainers. I have never done this before and think it would be a good way for me to get my feet wet. My vision is my own business specializing in weight loss.
